Sally Houlton Named Managing Director at Hedon Insurance

Sally has been with the firm for 10 years, starting as an Insurance Advisor before quickly rising through the ranks to Manager, Director, and now MD. 

 

Her career in insurance began in 1989 when she joined a local broker as a school leaver. After a brief break to start a family, she returned to the industry in 1998, gaining experience in finance, management, compliance, training, and HR. However, her passion remained in insurance. 

 

"I always longed to return to the insurance industry due to the close working relationships you build when dealing with customers' policies year after year," said Sally. 

 

"There's also the challenge of helping customers with difficult requirements and supporting them when the unexpected occurs." 

 

 

As Managing Director, Sally will oversee Hedon Insurance's three branches, ensuring they provide the first-class service clients expect. Her role involves building relationships with insurers to offer a wide range of solutions and using her expertise to educate customers via the firm’s newsletters. 

 

"We even get local people popping in for advice when they're not insured with us," Sally said. "I will always try to help where I can." 

 

Sally praised the firm's community roots, cultivated by former MD Anne Walters. "Customers trust Hedon Insurance to look after their needs and support them when required. They appreciate speaking face-to-face to understand their cover fully." 

 

 

With banks and retailers disappearing from the high street, Sally believes maintaining a local broker presence is crucial. "Hedon Insurance has been here for over 50 years, and we intend to continue offering excellent service to our community." 

 

Under her leadership, the firm has expanded its workforce and will be announcing new products and services in the coming months. 

 

"We're excited about Hedon Insurance's future," Sally said. "By working closely with our insurance partners and community, we'll continue providing the first-class service customers have trusted for more than half a century.” 

 

 

Sally remembers being interviewed by Paul and Anne, who gave her a role as an Insurance Advisor. They quickly recognised her potential, supporting her progression to Branch Manager just one year later. 

 

In 2021, Sally was promoted to Director, gaining valuable experience overseeing operations. This paved the way for her recent appointment as Managing Director in 2024. 

 

"Paul and Anne saw something in me from the start and nurtured my growth," Sally said. "I'm honoured to now lead the company they nurtured with such care and passion for the local community." 

 

Sally's wealth of industry knowledge, commitment to customer service, and vision for Hedon Insurance's future make her well-suited for the Managing Director role. Under her guidance, the firm is poised to build on its 50-year legacy of trusted insurance solutions.
