Do you secure your dog whilst driving your vehicle?

Did you know that if your pet is ‘roaming free’ inside your moving vehicle, then potentially your insurer could “refuse” to pay out on claims caused by an animal.
This puts the responsibility completely in the driver’s hands.
You could be hit with expensive penalties and even invalidate your car insurance by failing to secure pets whilst on the move.
Rule 57 of the Highway Code also warns drivers to ensure dogs are restrained on journeys: “When in a vehicle make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you, or themselves if you stop quickly.”
There are plenty of car accessories to keep your pets safe during transit, including; collapsible, soft beds or even seatbelts.
Not only could a potential crash put your animal’s life in danger, as well as putting passengers at risk of injury, but the damage to your car could be costly meaning you have a hefty sum to pay out on repairs if your insurance claim is refused.
