Flood Re is a joint initiative between the Government and insurers. It aims to make the flood cover part of household insurance policies more accessible and more affordable.
In the UK, hundreds of thousands of homes could be harder to insure because they’re at high risk of flooding.

If your home is more likely to flood, insurers may need to charge higher insurance premiums and in some cases, refuse to insure you at all.

To prevent this, Flood Re is a joint initiative between the Government and insurers. It aims to make the flood cover part of household insurance policies more accessible and more affordable.

In order to help protect flood-prone properties, The Environment Agency in Yorkshire and North East is contacting some home owners to determine if products such as; flood barriers on doorways and air brick covers to keep floodwater out, would be of benefit. The Environment Agency will also offer eligible properties a FREE flood survey.

Due to climate change, more homes are vulnerable to floods and as this type of flood protection is relatively easy to install, it may be worth considering for homes in East Yorkshire for extra peace of mind.

If you have difficulty finding insurance for your home, or have plans to move to flood zones such as; Kingswood in Hull or Dunswell in East Yorkshire, our team will be happy to advise you.
